Their Needs

By far, too many people around the world do not have access to the basics. They lack basic sanitation, plumbing, toilet facilities, or live in homes with dirt floors.

Compound these conditions with having little or no access to health care and the effects can be devastating.

Everyday in impoverished villages:

  • children die from infections that can be easily treated and prevented
  • expectant mothers and their unborn children can be harmed from improper health care practices
  • wounds and injuries go untreated for lack of basic supplies and training
According to the World Health Organization:
  • 53% of the population of Guatemala lives on less than $1 a day.
  • 74% of pregnant women in Haiti will not receive care by a health professional.
  • In Peru, over 65% of the rural population do not have access to safe drinking water or adequate sanitation.
  • For every 100,000 people in the U.S. there are 1,000 nurses. But in Guatemala, there are less than 30, and in Haiti, it's barely 10.
Global Health Ministry partners with local and international organizations to effect systemic change and to strengthen healthy community development.
